RAINFOREST
The species pictured here are found in the heart of
the Daintree jungle.
The Daintree Tropical Rainforest is a refuge for 100s of rare, threatened
and endagered species. Here, an acre of land is can be home to more
than 12 endangered species! (That is over 30 per hectare!)
These species date back over millions of years. They include the Cassowary,
the third largest bird on earth as well as some of the smallest, like
the Pygmy Possum, the Pygmy Kingfisher and the Double-eyed Fig Parrot.
The Daintree is the last refuge for so many of the plants, animals,
insects, amphibians and reptiles pictured throughout this website -
both on land and in the sea. The fate of the lowlands will determine
their future. Through the Daintree Rainforest Land Trust, the outcome
is in your hands.
The Daintree Rainforest Land Trust has identified
significant areas of mangroves to take into its care. Take action!
