REEF
The Great Barrier Reef is one of our planets most precious achievements.
It is one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World and a World Heritage
Area - recognized by over 172 countries.
Destruction of coastal forests for farming, cattle and resorts has poured
pollution and erosion onto the Great Barrier Reef and decimated inshore
corals and seagrasses.
The Great Barrier Reef is home to 500 species of seaweed, 4,000 molluscs,
400 corals, 1,500 species of fish, 20 species of sea snakes, 6 breeding
species of sea turtle and over 200 species of birds. 30 species of whales,
dolphins and porpoises visit and live in reef waters.
It is our goal to preserve and rehabilitate the Daintree coast. As we
bring land into the Daintree Rainforest Land Trust we will maintain
the still healthy rainforest and plant to reforest the degraded areas.
With your help, we will reduce erosion and pollution onto the reef.
